Prevention & Intervention for At-Risk Youth.

The PIVOT Program was created for nonviolent juvenile offenders and youth identified as at-risk, with a clear and urgent mission: to help keep young people out of prison—and the morgue.

Through trauma-informed practices, participants develop the emotional regulation, communication, relationship, and decision-making skills needed to create a life of stability, success, and purpose.

Helping young people develop the skills and confidence needed to make different choices.

THE PIVOT APPROACH

A Safe Place to Pause, Reflect, and Redirect.

PIVOT provides a safe, calm, and nonjudgmental environment for youth to better understand their thoughts, actions, and emotions.

Rather than simply focusing on punishment, the program gives participants an opportunity to examine what is happening, understand their responses, and practice healthier ways of managing challenging situations.

Using Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) principles, youth are guided to explore new and healthy ways of responding to and managing stress.

Self-regulation skills and interactive curriculum encourage reflection, curiosity, and personal accountability.

↗
Behavior is communication.

PIVOT creates space to understand what is behind the behavior and develop a healthier response.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Young People Don't Grow in Isolation.

Helping a young person change behavior is only part of the solution. Lasting change requires supportive adults, healthier relationships, and environments where young people can develop a sense of safety, belonging, and purpose.

That's why PIVOT fits within The Camel Project's larger commitment to changing culture before it becomes a tragedy.

01 Awareness

Understanding what is happening beneath the behavior.

02 Connection

Building relationships that support trust and belonging.

03 Skills

Giving young people practical tools they can use.

04 Growth

Creating opportunities for healthier choices and change.

HEALING IS PART OF THE JOURNEY

Sometimes Awareness Is Only the Beginning.

Young people may need continued support as they work through emotional wounds, develop resilience, and build healthier relationships.
